HEDD - HEDDphone D1
HEDD - HEDDphone D1
The world’s first Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm headphone.
First imagined eight years ago, the idea of bringing Thin-Ply Carbon into headphone design has now been realized through extensive development and refinement. The D1 embodies HEDD’s decade of innovation and the forty-year acoustic legacy of its founder, Klaus Heinz. Developed in collaboration with Composite Sound of Sweden—specialists in advanced diaphragm design and manufacturing—the outcome is a headphone that redefines the very idea of what a dynamic driver can achieve.
What is TPCD?
Thin-Ply Carbon (TPC) is not ordinary carbon fiber. Composed of ultra-thin layers of carbon precisely aligned and bonded, it is prized for its exceptional stiffness-to-density ratio, low mass, and resilience. As such, it has become the material of choice for extreme performance demands—from the chassis of Formula 1 cars to NASA’s Mars helicopter, Ingenuity.
In the D1, TPC becomes something entirely new: Thin-Ply Carbon Diaphragm (TPCD). This precisely engineered diaphragm controls resonances on a structural basis, eliminating the need for traditional damping materials at the diaphragm level, and allowing faster, cleaner, and more accurate motion across the audible spectrum.
Key Features
* World’s First TPCD Headphone – a diaphragm made from Thin-Ply Carbon (TPC), a material proven in extreme applications from Formula 1 to NASA’s Mars Helicopter Ingenuity.
